Discipleship Ministry in a Hausa ECWA Church Barnawa, Kaduna.

The Lord helping us not to be led into praising men and women whom God has used, but give praise to God for what He is doing in our lives.

The Discipleship Ministry was introduced in ECWA Church Barnawa by our Pastor after attending a training in Discipleship organized by The Navigators in 2009. The group started meeting in 2010 in Hausa language using Shirin Almajirin Almasihu, Kwas na Daya – Kafuwa Cikin Almasihu. This group was able to finish the Course One within one year. After that more groups were formed and all were meeting weekly in 6 different houses.

Many who have been undergoing studies in the Lord’s Harvest Series in Hausa have improved in their grasp of the knowledge of the Bible that has led the Church in appointing many of them as Church Elders, Agency Leaders. Some are involved in teaching Sunday School, Baptismal Classes and going for outreaches. The Church attendance and activities have improved, the knowledge gained has deepened their understanding and commitment to the Gospel. This is visible in Bible studies, midweek prayers and Sunday school.

The small groups are meeting in houses with each having not less than 10-15 people including men, women and youths. The small groups have improved the unity of the members holding each other accountable in areas of use of time, memory verses and studying the word of God.

For the past two years, the tempo has slowed down with the groups striving to complete course two in Hausa.   Pray for the ministry in Barnawa to grow as Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 ” I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow”. The Lord helping us not to be led into praising men and women whom God has used, but give praise to God for what He is doing in our lives.
